MCOCA comes in handy for Delhi police in criminal cases

Delhi police finds MCOCA to be the best weapon against hardcore criminals in the city. In the year 2010, 27 people were arrested and prosecuted under this act. MCOCA, Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act of 1999 had been initially used by the Maharashtra government to control organised crimes and Delhi too adopted the act to tackle rising crimes. According to police, the act was earlier used to nab hardened criminals but these days even snatchers were brought under the MCOCA Act. Criminals booked under this act cannot get bail for at least six months. New police commissioner of Delhi BK Gupta has stressed on an effective use of MCOCA.
