Mutalik held by ATS in Malegoan blast

Praveen Mutalik, one of conspirators of the Malegaon blast, has been arrested by the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad from Gokak town in the Belgaum districts of Karnataka on 1 February. The police are still in search of two others in the case, Ramchandra Kalsangra and Sandeep Dange who are believed to have planted the bomb in Malegoan blast.

According to Maharashtra ATS chief Rakesh Maria "Takalki worked as a personal secretary to Lt. Colonel Shrikant Prasad Purohit just three months before the blast. Lt. Colonel Purohit is the key accused in the blast. He took directions from Lt. Colonel Purohit and was present in various meetings held in Nasik, Panchmahri and Pune. Takalki never used his original name.

The chargesheet filed by the ATS in 2008 shows him as wanted by the name Praveen Mutalik. A special team was formed to trace Takalki after the MCOCA court declared him and two other conspirators, Ramji Kalsangara and Sandep Dange, as wanted accused in the case. It took us three months to establish that Mutalik and Takalki were the same people." ATS chief also said that the forensic swab taken from Mutalik room and the blast site in Malegoan matched and showed traces of RDX.
