Himayat Baig was picked up by ATS even before German Bakery blast

Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad claims to have cracked the German Bakery blast case which has been dragged into controversy after key accused Himayat Baig has claimed that he was picked up even before the German Bakery blast. Baig’s advocate Rehman has said, “He told me that he had been picked up by police weeks before the blast.” ATS chief Rakesh Maria after Baig’s arrest had said that he is the chief of Lashkar-Taiba in Maharashtra and he had been present in Pune but ATS Deputy Inspector General, Ravindra Kadam, who was posted in Pune denied that Baig had ever visited Pune. Maria in an interview had said that the blast was triggered using a mobile phone alarm but there are reports which say that nothing has been mentioned about the triggering mechanism in the chargesheet. Himayat Baig’s counsel Rahman has said that he is unable to read the chargesheet as the names of the witnesses were allegedly deleted from the chargesheet before the copies were given to him.
