Ahmedabad: Be it the action at the special task force (STF) headed by Justice (retd) HS Bedi, investigation in the Ishrat Jahan or Sohrabuddin fake encounter cases, the state may witness major developments soon. Bedi  visited the city recently while there are possibilities of movements in Ishrat and Sohrabuddin cases.

On 1 April evening, sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) visited the offices of Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) regarding the Ishrat case. The team, headed by a sub-inspector, visited the office of the deputy commissioner of police, DCB. The office was once used by key accused in the Ishrat case, DG Vanzara.

CBI sleuths questioned suspended IPS officer GL Singhal in Sabarmati Central Jail for a few hours on 30 March in connection with the Ishrat case.

Regarding the Sohrabuddin case, the CBI is in the process of locating a private flat that was used by the accused. According to sources, the accused had used this flat to accommodate the policemen who came from Andhra Pradesh and were connected with the kidnap of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kausarbi and his friend Tulsi Prajapati. The sleuths believe that the flat in Sola area of Ahmedabad was used by the accused cops.

The CBI may get leads to reveal the AP connection in the case with this development and is all set to question the cops who allegedly stayed in the flat.

Apart from the encounter cases investigated by CBI, the sleuths of STF met on 2 April at the Ahmedabad Circuit House in connection with 15 encounter cases in the state  investigated by them.
