Pillai contradicts Congressmen on right wing terror

Union Home Secretary Gopal K Pillai in an interaction with a news agency on 14 February said that the emergence of right wing terror elements is a matter of concern for the government, but, “not a big threat.” Pillai’s views contradict earlier statements made by Rahul Gandhi and some other Congressmen on right wing terror elements. Digvijay Singh earlier has compared the right wing group to Nazis and Rahul Gandhi has said that the growth of radicalised Hindu groups could pose a bigger threat to India than activities of groups likes Lashkar-e-Taiba. Home Secretary, Pillai’s remark has come at a time when CBI and NIA are probing the role of Hindu radicals in bomb blast cases in Malegoan, Mecca Masjid, Ajmer Sharief, Modasa and the Samjhauta Express. Some arrested in these connections are being interrogated and some of them have even confessed to their role in the bomb blast. Replying to a question on innocent Muslim youth arrested or chargesheeted for these blasts Pillai said that action would be taken against any police officials found implicating Muslim youths on charges of blasts in the past, he further said.
