Ali Day celebrated at AMU

Aligarh, February 21: The Ali Society of the Aligarh Muslim University celebrated ‘Ali Day’ at the Kennedy Auditorium. Dr. Karim Najfi, Cultural Counsellor of Islamic Republic of Iran graced the function as Chief Guest. On this occasion, Maulana Kamaluddin Javed of Allahabad and Maulana Saud Alam Qasmi, former Dean, Faculty of Theology at AMU addressed the gathering and highlighted the contribution of Hazrat Ali. Mr. Qambar Hasan, Secretary of the Ali Society said that this society has been functioning in the University for a long period and has been actively engaged in disseminating his teachings. These activities include Ali Day functions, essay writing competition, speech competition and publication of best activities in English and Urdu and various other activities like seminar, symposium, etc., related to the life and teachings of Hazrat Ali. He urged the university authorities to establish Hazrat Ali research centre at AMU. Cultural Counsellor of Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Karim Najfi announced the donation of five hundred books on Islam to the Ali Society. Professor S. Ali Mohammad Naqvi, Dean, Faculty of Theology proposed a vote of thanks, Mrs. Raza Sirasvi, Azeem Amrohvi, Munsif Jalalvi, Hafiz Idrees Aurandabadi recited their poems. Syed Nabeel Mehdi conducted the programme.
