Attempt to give a minor clash communal colour

Rampur: A minor clash in Parana Ganj area of this city suddenly took a serious turn and in no time a curfew-like situation developed in the entire area. It so happened that an exchange of hot words took place between some youngmen of two communities resulting in a minor clash.

Soon people of the other community assembled there with lathis and started a quarrel as a result of which the goods in the shop were almost totally damaged. Since this was a case of two communities, some political persons tried to encash it for their selfish ends and made all attempts to aggravate it.

The news of this clash was spread all over the city but the opportunist elements were greatly disappointed when saner elements, seeing and understanding the gravity of this rather minor incident tried to bring about an understanding between senior people of the two communities.

According to reliable sources, the clash among the youth had started over some money transactions which had enraged the boys of the other community who attacked other boys with arms and also damaged the shop and goods. C.O (City) and Police Captain Ameet Sharma reached the spot alongwith a police force and brought the group members of the two communities to the police station. President of Hindu Sangathan Anil Vashisht and President of Ittehad-e Millat Shah Farhat Jamali and others also reached the police station.

Written statements from both sides were given to the police who, however, did not register the report and an understanding was reached. If members of the two sides would not have reached an understanding, the minor clash could have turned into a communal riot.
