“The importance of knowledge can be understood from the fact that the holy Qur’an in its very first revelation has given an injunction to seek knowledge. As far as the science of Hadith is concerned its compilation had begun from day one. IOS has been holding symposia and seminars on various academic and scientific topics and giving awards and prizes. And in this regard it has given the Shah Walliullah Award to Maulana Taqiuddin Nadwi, who is a great scholar of Hadith sciences as an acknowledgment of the services of Indian scholars.” These views were expressed by Maulana Syed Rabey Nadwi, president of AIMPLB on the occasion of Shah Walliullah Award function held here in New Delhi on 26 February 2011 in Jamia Hamdard’s Convention Centre.
