Ajmal challenges Arshad Madni to prove charge or face defamation case

New Delhi: President of Assam UDF and MP from Assam Maulana Badruddin Ajmal said here that Maulana Arshad Madni’s accusation of his (Maulana Ajmal) accepting Rs 55 crore from BJP during the last election is baseless, regrettable and extremely shameful.

Maulana Ajmal challenged Maulana Madni to prove his false and baseless accusation and if found to be true, he would bid good-bye to politics but failing that, Maulana Madni should publicly apologise. If he does not apologise, he (Maulana Ajmal) threatened to file a defamation case against him and demand Rs 10 thousand crore for bringing a bad name to him and his party, Assam United Front.

He said that the accusation of his accepting Rs 55 crore from BJP is extremely regrettable and has been done at the behest of some Congress leaders, particularly Assam’s forest minister Raqibul Hasan. He also accused Maulana Arshad Madni of doing all this for revenge because he is extremely upset and feels humiliated because of his inability to get elected for the post of Darul Uloom Deoband’s Rector.

Maulana Ajmal said that as far as the charge of his accepting Rs 55 crore from BJP during the last election is concerned, why was he silent when the assembly elections were held 5 years ago. And if he is referring to the Lok Sabha elections, these too were held about two years ago. Why was he maintaining silence till now, he asked. He demanded a public apology to himself and to the nation. He said there is a conspiracy to tarnish his and his party’s image and credibility.
