Ref. Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund

Mohtaram Janab Dr Manmohan Singh Sahab,

The Uttarakhand tragedy has stirred and touched the whole nation. The Muslim community too fully shares the sorrow and loss of our brothers and sisters affected by the calamity. We offer our sincerest sympathies to the nation and to the families of the victims and affected.

We have appealed to Muslim organisations as well as individuals to come forward to offer all kind of relief in this hour of need and trial of our great nation. A number of Muslim organisations have already started relief work in the affected area. Many are sending donations to various relief funds instituted on the national and state levels and through NGOs. Many are also sending relief material by trucks directly to the accessible areas. Teams of Muslim doctors too are heading to the affected area.

While appreciating the great efforts being made by the central and state governments as well as by the gallant air force jawans to rescue and offer all possible help in the affected area, we at the All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat, offer a token relief support of Rs one lakh for the relief work in Uttarkhand. A cheque is attached herewith.

We wish and pray for a quick rehabilitation and speedy return to normalcy for the people of the affected area and the affected families all over the country.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan
