New Delhi: A book titled Faiz Ahmad Faiz: Aks aur Jehtain (Reflections and Dimensions) written by famous poet and writer Shahid Mahuli was released at India Habitat Centre by Prof. Gopi Chand Narang on 17 February. Speaking after releasing the book Prof. Narang said that the poetry of Faiz is profound and impressive and touches the hearts of readers and listeners. That is why his admirers are found not only in the Indo-Pak subcontinent but in the whole world, wherever Urdu is spoken and understood. Prof. Narang said that this book on Faiz is original and very important for the study on Faiz which the author, Shahid Maahuli, has compiled very diligently and laboriously. He said that since Faiz had undergone the rigours of life in jail his poetry is heart rending and unique in many senses and poetry of this type can be put in popular, romantic and revolutionary category.

Another speaker, Maandloyee, a prominent Hindi poet and writer who is director in Doordarshan, said while shedding light on the ups and downs of his (Faiz) life that Faiz is very popular not only in Urdu but in Hindi also. On this occasion a programme of ghazals was also organised in which ghazal singers Sudeep and Manu Kohli recited Faiz’s ghazals.
