Bomb kills policemen while defusing

Patna: A bomb claimed lives of two policemen while they were trying to defuse it. Vijay Kumar and Jai Chand Prasad, employees of Bihar Military Police (BMP), were trying to defuse a powerful bomb which was planted by the Naxalites on the premises of the district’s Bankebazar block during the 24 hour bundh call. Turning the incident as “highly unfortunate” Bihar DGP Neelmani said that the bomb went off accidentally while it was being defused. Two state auxiliary policemen and two members of a local television news channel were also injured in the incident. The injured policemen are reported to be critical. In addition to planting the bomb, the naxalites dynamited a railway track near Kurhani railway station on the Hajipur - Muzaffarpur section which led to derailment of ten coaches of rail services which were diverted to other route.
