Rally in support of Mufti Israr’s release

Saharanpur: In a huge protest rally people expressed their concern over prolonged detention of Mufti Israr who was arrested in 2002 on charge of involvement in terrorist activities. Accused of anti-national activities and having rapport with militants his house was raided from which police claimed to have recovered a Chinese pistol and a few objectionable documents. Since then court proceedings are being routinely carried out. During electioneering even Mulayam Singh had promised that he would try to get him released. However, this remained a hollow election promise. In a recent programme a rally expressed its solidarity with Maulana. Thakur Amar Singh, the President of Lok Manch and Rajya Sabha MP declared that like the Batla House encounter he would raise Mufti Israr’s issue and would do his utmost to ensure that the Mufti of Mazahir Uloom Saharanpur is set free.
