1473 of 1511 cases of HR violations by armed forces false

Of total 1511 cases of human rights violations against security forces since 1990, 1473 cases have turned out to be false. Major General (Retd) Aditya J B Jaini in an interview said that each and every case levelled against security forces was thoroughly investigated and later on was also scrutinised by the National Human Rights Commission and out of 1511 cases only 104 personnel were punished. He added that “the number of security forces personnel killed by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir between 1988 and July 5, 2010 is 5962. And since 1992 the number of official’s martyred by insurgents in Manipur is 939, Assam 783, Meghalaya 81 and Mizoram 22. Army believes that if the death toll of army personnel is so huge how they can be termed as murderers or gross violators of human rights.
