Honour for Aziz Burney

New Delhi: Aziz Burney, group editor of Rashtriya Sahara Urdu daily was honoured by West Bengal Urdu Academy with Abdul Razzaq Malihabadi Award in recognition of his services to journalism.

The Academy also honoured Shamsur Rahman Farooqi, prominent critic, with its award for the year 2008. Aziz Burney could not be present on this occasion. Hence in his absence, on his behalf his Award was received by Jahangir Raza Kazmi, resident editor of Rashtriya Sahara at Kolkata.

The Awards, including a shawl and Certificate each to Shamsur Rahman Farooqi and Jahangir Raza Kazmi were given by West Bengal’s minister for minorities affairs and madrasa education, Dr. Abdus Sattar at a function chaired by Academy’s Chairperson Incharge, Mrs. Shahnaz Nabi on 25 February.
