Dr. SHAKEEL AHMAD, spokesman of All India Congress Committee has been elected a member of Congress Working Committee and appointed incharge of Jharkhand, West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the purpose of elections.

Ms. SABIHA KHURSHID of Komti (Maharashtra) has been conferred PhD Degree by Nagpur University for her research paper on Urdu main Maahiya Nigari which she completed under the supervision of Dr. Arshad Jamal.

UP Waqf Board, after dissolving the old executive committee of Saharanpur’s Madrasa Ashraful Madaris, has constituted new committee of this madrasa on 8 March. ALI SHER has been made president, Dr. FARHAT and MUHAMMAD NASIR have been appointed vice president and secretary respectively of the new executive committee.

Dr. ABDUL WASEY TIMI of Jamia Ibn Timiah has been conferred PhD Degree by Jawaharlal Nehru University for his research paper on Mirza Abdul Qasim and Mirza Taqi Khan as architects of modern Iran which he completed under the supervision of Prof. Ainul Haq. Dr. Abdul Wasey Timi is also a scholar at the Centre for Persian Language and Literature at JNU.

Maulana EJAZ chairman of Bihar State Madrasa Board who was selected for being honoured with All India Friendship Award by All India Friendship Society in recognition of his valuable services in the field of education, was honoured with this Award at an international level function held at Bangkok (Thailand) on 26 March. He has already been honoured with many awards like President of India’s Teachers Award, Bharat Jeevan Jyoti Award and Best Citizen Award.
