Communal goons try to burn Ayodhya

Ayodhya: Communal goons tried to burn Ayodhya again when in the evening of 20 December they ransacked and damaged the tomb of Prophet Shees and other graves here as well as Jinnati Masque where they killed Syed Zeeshan Ahmad, a BSC student at Ayodhya’s Pram Hans College who hailed from Bihar and was living in a room inside the Mosque compound. A group of some 7-8 masquerading goons committed these crimes with a clear plan to start a communal riot in the area. Zeeshan was bludgeoned to death with the iron hand of a water pump. He was reading the Qur’an at the time. Nearby peeled potatoes were kept next to a gas stove indicating that he was about to prepare his dinner.

Tomb of Prophet Shees

Local administration officials and police officers rushed to the area. They got the post-mortem of Zeeshan’s body done hastily and despatched it quickly to his home in Bihar. The state government announced a compensation of five lakh rupees to the family of Zeeshan.

The administration also started on war-footing the repair of the Prophet Shees tomb and the damaged graves as well as Jinnati Mosque although the repair of mosques and graves damaged in December 1992 during the Babri demolition is still not allowed by the same administration.
