RSS-backed Bihar survey irks Nitish Kumar

Survey by India Policy Foundation, an outfit of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), to study social, economic and political changes in Bihar has irked Nitish Kumar. The survey has created a kind of fissure between JD(U) and the BJP.

The survey is titled, “Study of process and nature in Bihar’s Social, Economic and Political Development,” in which 34 multiple choice questions are to be asked from the people of Bihar. The questions that might have irked Nitish Kumar could be, demerits of the Bihar government, future of JD(U), Muslims voting pattern for the alliance. The survey is planned for the entire state and the sample size is 10,000. Although, RSS claims that the study is purely academic in nature but it does contain some questions that might upset the present government. One more question like giving scholarship and employment or some other benefits on the basis of religion may also be a cause of concern for the chief minister. Questions are based on the nature of the government, its shortcoming, impact of alliance in Bihar.

The options provided against demerits of the government are: 1. Importance given to caste equations. 2. No let up in corruption cases. 3. New schemes aimed to appease minorities. And options given for another question to asses the RSS in the state are: 1 RSS image is different from what media projects. 2. Government did nothing that can be said to be anti government. 3. Muslims do not hate RSS as it is said. Muslims give advantage to governance and lastly, Nitish government did everything to appease Muslims despite alliance with the BJP.
