Lucknow: President of All India Shia Personal Law Board Maulana Mirza Athar said in a press conference here on 9 March that Dalits, oppressed and backward class people of different sections of Indian society are getting reservation but people of Shia community have always been ignored, for the 60 years ever since Independence because of which people of Shia community have become like backward caste people.

Therefore demand will be made to the government to give reservation to people of Shia community all over India. He said that emphasis will be laid on removing the evils prevailing in Shia community. He said that population of Shias in the country is more than 5 crores but there is no representative of this community in the central or state government nor is there any Shia representative in commissions or boards. Because of this reason a meeting of Shia leaders and responsible people of the community will be held on 13 March and this matter will be discussed in an open session, he said.
