“Minority institutions not being ignored”: Justice Siddiqui

New Delhi: Justice MSA Siddiqui, chairman of the National Commission for Minorities Educational Institutions, said in an interview that the government is not ignoring minorities institutions but people associated with these institutions are taking advantages of their minority status.

He said that it is not the government which is ignoring them but actually these are the people who are deriving benefits of many government facilities given to minority institutions.

He said that he has come to know that about 30 percent madrasas exist on paper only in one form or the other but people doing this shoddy business are getting financial assistance from government on this pretext.

In reply to a question about giving minority status to Jamia Millia Islamia University, he said that it is wrong to think that by giving it minority status, the prestige and standing of this University will receive a setback.
