Defamation case filed against Arshad Madni

New Delhi: All India United Democratic Front of Assam’s President Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, putting in action his earlier threat to Jamiatul Ulama-e Hind’s president Maulana Arshad Madni to either prove his charge of Maulana Ajmal accepting Rs. 55 crore from BJP during the last Lok Sabha election or failing which either to publicly apologise for his baseless charge or face defamation case in court, has filed the defamation case in a district court of Guwahati and claimed Rs. 101 crore as compensation from him.

In the defamation case filed by Maulana Badruddin Ajmal on 25 February ‘11 he has stated that he is working on behalf of lakhs of people against whom there is a conspiracy to deprive them of their voting rights because of the baseless charge of their being Bangladeshis, and since his social work is spread to wide areas, this false charge has caused him enormous mental trauma and strain and his public image has suffered greatly. Also, he may incur huge financial losses. In view of all this, he has claimed Rs 101 crore as compensation from Maulana Madni which the court at its discretion may reduce or increase.

His filing the case against Maulana Madni indicates that Maulana Madni neither proved his charge of Maulana Ajmal accepting Rs. 55 crore from BJP nor did he publicly apologise and hence he filed the case. It is believed that Maulana Arshad Madni has received the court’s notice in this case, though there is no confirmation of this from his side.
