Jamia Islamia Shantapuram's convocation

Shantapuram (Kerala): Al-Jamia Al-Islamia Shantapuram held its convocation ceremony on 18-19 January. The occasion included open sessions on various community and academic issues in which scholars and people from across Kerala participated. Diginitaries from Qatar and Saudi Arabia too participated. MG editor Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan was also invited and spoke on media and Mulim Personal Law in two different sessions.

The Jamia is an Islamic educational institution which has adopted both traditional and modern sciences and boasts an well-organised sprawling campus. It has arts and science colleges where Quran, Hadith, Shariat, Usul al-Din and Islamic banking etc are taught on graduate and post-graduate levels. Its degrees are recognized by a number of Indian and Arab universities. A memorial issue of Jamia's magazine on Jamia's former chanceller late Dr Abdul Haq Ansari, former Amir of Jamaat-e Islami Hind, was also released on this occasion.
