Palestine — Quiz & Essay Competition by The Milli Gazette

With the 1-15 May 2015 print edition of The Milli Gazette, we have started a quiz series on Palestine and a separate Essay Competition. The quiz continued until the MG’s issue of 16-30 Sept. 2015.

The Essay competition which has cash awards of a total Rs 3 lacs. [Last date to submit your essay 30 October 2015]

In the Quiz series, five new questions about Palestine were published in each issue until the 16-30 Sept. 2015 issue. Readers had 30 days to respond to the Quiz from the date of publication. Thirty persons offering correct answers to each set of questions will receive a T-shirt or a Watch or a Mug with a message on Palestine printed on it. A total of 300 prizes are to be won. Postage within India will to borne by us.

Conditions for the Essay competition
Every two weeks we will ask ask the next set of questions.  Thirty persons offering correct answers to each set of questions will receive a T-shirt or a Watch or a Mug with a message on Palestine printed on it. A total of 300 prizes are to be won. Postage within India will to borne by us. Postage within India will to borne by us. Winners may be required to submit valid identification before receiving their prize. MG will not be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network connections that may limit or prohibit an eligible entrant's ability to participate in the competition. By entering this contest you agree to the terms and to allow the free use of your names, photographs  and to contact you by phone/email/post. MG reserves the right at any time to cancel, modify or supersede the competition (including altering prizes) if, in our sole discretion, a competition is not capable of being conducted as specified. MG reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal value in the event that circumstances beyond our control make this unavoidable.

Cash awards of a total Rs 3,00,000 to be won

The Essay topics
1. Israeli settlements in occupied Palestine are a threat to world peace.
2. Palestine National Authority and Oslo Agreements - an assessment.
3. Modern Palestinian resistance to colonization & judisation - a brief history (1918-2015)
4. Blockade of Gaza Strip - a crime against humanity.
5. Jerusalem under Israeli occupation.

Conditions for the Essay competition
1. The last date to receive your typed essay is 30 October 2015. Maximum length is 25 A4, MS Word file double spaced, Times Roman 12 font size with footnotes and references. 2. One person can send only one essay on any of the five topics.
3. Essays should be only in English. Please mention on the first page your full name, age, gender, profession, education & year of passing, full postal address, Pin Code, Tel./Mobile, Email.
4. Three (first, second and third) prizes of Rs. 30,000, Rs. 20000 and Rs. 10,000 will be given to the best papers for each of the five questions, i.e., 15 prizes will be offered for this year’s competition. The decision of the MG panel of experts will be final and no correspondence, meeting or telephone call will be entertained in this matter.
5. Essays should be original with due references. Where Internet material is used, full URL should be mentioned.
6. Plagiarised or ghost-written essays will not be considered.
7. The prizes will be announced in The Milli Gazette and will be presented in an international conference on Palestine to be held in November 2015 to which winners will be invited and writers of best papers will be invited to deliver them in the conference.
8. Essays selected for prizes will become property of The Mill Gazette and should not be published anywhere without the written permission of The Milli Gazette.
