The ire in eighteen-year-old S.M. Pasha’s heart remained dormant for sixty-three years. Now at the age of 81 he decided not to carry the burden to his grave and expose the tall claim of “Police Action” on Nizam’s Hyderabad in September 1948.
In his foreword, Zafarul-Islam Khan, editor of the Milli Gazette, reminds, “….thousands, may be hundreds of thousands, did not live to tell the story of rape, murder and wanton destruction….”
The author in his Preface quotes P.V. Narsimha Rao who was then a Congress neta, exhorting the mob at Vijaywada railway station: …. “O my gallant Telugu brothers …. the time for revenge, sweet revenge …. The accused Muslim Razakars killed our Hindu brothers and sisters. Let us kill them now. Those Muslim Razakars raped our Hindu ladies. Let our men rape their ladies and rape them in presence of their near and dear ones. Revenge, revenge, now or never.” No surprise, he was so calm and cool during Babri mosque demolition.
The hundred hour war, led by Maj. Gen. J.N. Chaudhari, was a “war” between David and Goliath and this time the Goliath triumphed. Official figure of 27 thousand deaths in the aftermath is only a fraction of real carnage. Sardar Patel reprimanded the persons for preparing fact finding report. Nehru and Gen. Bucher, Commander-in-Chief, were not in favour of assault on Hyderabad. Sardar Patel bluntly told Gen. Bucher to resign if he wanted to do so but the “Police Action” will start tomorrow.”
S.M. Pasha has brought facts for the posterity. He cites several sources to subtantiate his claim. A shocking exposure of non-violent Congress!
