New generation fed up with RSS
New Delhi: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), seeing the rapidly falling number of youths in its shakhas and their lack of interest and enthusiasm in its activities, has decided to start a nationwide ‘jagran’ campaign so as to familiarise the new generation with Sangh’s ideology and programmes. This campaign will start in August. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has laid great emphasis on starting this campaign at an early date so that maximum number of youths could be attracted towards its ideology and programmes.
After the involvement of its activists in Malegaon, Ajmer and Makka Masjid bomb blasts came into lime light, the Sangh held several meetings to discuss the implications of this development and other problems like Ram Mandir, Hindutva etc. Some members expressed the view that efforts are being made to propagate distorted image and views of RSS so as to misguide the young generation and motivate them to keep a distance from Sangh. They believe that this can be rectified through jagran campaign.
According to an analysis, there were about 50000 Sangh shakhas until recently in the country but these numbers have now declined to about 40000. In Delhi, the number of such shakhas has fallen from about 2000 a couple of years ago to about 1500 at present. Observers feel that because of the association of RSS activists in bomb blasts which have now come to their knowledge, people particularly the new generation are becoming disenchanted with RSS and its related outfits and this is the main reason for its falling graph. An important office-bearer of the RSS has, however, denied this. He said that these days most of the youth are becoming associated with advanced professional courses like IT, MBA, IIT etc because of which they have busy schedules and do not find time to join shakhas.
