“Acts of terrorism cannot be divided into Hindu and Muslim. They have to be seen as acts of terror, acts of violence and should be dealt with firmly, irrespective of caste, creed, religion or community of the accused,” said the Congress general secretary Digvijay  Singh. But why Muslims are still carrying the burden of being terrorists and most of the young Muslims are brutally tortured? Though investigations have shown the clear strategy of these fanatics, to first cause the blast happen and then blame Muslims. Despite these new revelations, neither the police nor the state governments have apologized or come up with any resettlement or compensation package for those wrongly arrested and tortured. Also none of the police officers or men involved in the fake investigations have been penalized. Most of them have received their promotions and enjoy cosy positions.

The blast at the dargah of Khwaja  Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer on 11 October 2007, was considered a dastardly form of terrorist attack coming as it did in the wake of the Mecca Masjid blasts  in Hyderabad in May the same year. This was the third attack on a Muslim religious spot since the serial blast in the vicinity of a mosque in Malegaon in September 2006 where three person were killed and 17  injured. Predictably, “Islamist” groups were held suspects and local Muslim clerics were taken in for questioning. However, with fresh arrests during the past year and a half, investigators have reason to believe that Hindu right-wing groups were involved not in one state but at many places, and the perpetrators belonged to different parts of the  country. In Nanded in 2006, a blast occurred in the house of an RSS worker when they were fabricating a bomb. In Kanpur, two RSS workers were killed while they were assembling bombs. There is a definite strategy adopted by Hindutva fundamentalists in their acts of terrorism. The BJP and the RSS, instead of defending these people, must come clean and control these rabid fundamentalists.

It is time to take on both Hindu and Muslim terror together. Terrorism should be taken seriously and all those involved in the ideology of hate should be punished.
